Default Charitable Donations

are there any tax breaks that Dominican people or businesses can receive for making a charitable donation?

if yes, a couple of further questions:

can donations be made "in kind" or must they be cash?
does the DR have a mechanism for registering charitable organizations?

thanks.

Yes, you are allowed to deduct gifts to charitable institutions up to 5% of your taxable income (Art. 287, IX - i, of the Tax Code).

Donations may be in kind or cash.

Non-profit organizations in the Dominican Republic are called "asociaciones sin fines de lucro" and are governed by Law #520 of 1920, as amended by Law #666 of 1982.
