Does anyone know how I can obtain a copy of or learn the provisions of the law mentioned above? Is anyone familiar with the general requirements for Dominican based charities and NPOs?
On my last visit to Sosua I met some people from a church in Montellano who are trying to organize a grassroots charity organization to help the poor and sick children on the North Coast.
These are sincere and well-meaning people, but they also appear to be amateurs as far as these things go. I’m not completely sure, but I suspect that they may be ignorant of the niceties involved, legal and fiscal, etc., in running a charity.
These folks are trying to do something good and I wouldn’t want to see them run into trouble for not knowing the rules. Or do these things work differently in the DR? Any information you can supply will be greatly appreciated.
