Default US Consulate in Santo Domingo

I need to get extra pages for my passport does anyone know the procedure for doing this in the Consulate in Santo Domingo? I was told sometime back that it is done free of charge there but I find this hard to believe.

Yes, extra pages are issued free of charge and no appointment is necessary to accomplish this. If you check the US State Dept's website for the Dominican Consular Services Section it will show the hours, etc.

You go to the embassy no later than 10 am and you will give them your passport and they will give you a identity number and you return at 1pm or 2pm, I forget which one, and they will have your passport ready.

You go to the Consulate, not the Embassy and ask for Citizen's Services. Then, they do as Duece said. Sometimes, with all the applicants for visas, it is a bit difficult to get security to realize that you are a citizen needed consular help.

The following is off the Consular web site: www.usemb.gov.do/Consular/ACS/passports.htm

Be sure to go to ACS (American Citizens Services) Unit-

Quote:
To add extra pages to passports: In Person: Bring your passport to this office any time during our opening hours. No appointment is necessary. The ACS Unit is open to the public from 7:30 am until 9:30 am, Monday through Friday. The Unit is closed to the public on all Dominican and American holidays. There is no fee. Processing will take approximately one hour. Third Party: If you wish to have a third party bring the passport in on your behalf, you should give him/her a letter of authorization in which he/she is named and he/she should carry his/her own passport or Dominican ID-Cédula for identification.

The consulate and Embassy are in different locations? Where is the consulate?

The consulate is on the west side of Av. Maximo Gomez, at the intersection with Pedro Henriquez Urena, while the embassy is a couple of blocks further down that street which after crossing Maximo Gomez changes name to Cesar Nicolas Penson. I think that's right. Both are pretty difficult to miss, and if you do, anyone you meet will be able to direct you.

Did you ever get the pages added? If so, how easy was it.

Wow. That must have been a huge pain. Hopefully the car was a rental.
