Do a search of the board and you will find lots of information on the subject by those that have done this.

Yes, it is fine to do this. You will not lose your US nationality, and will gain a second passport.

Where are you from? If you are from NY, call the Dominican Consulate in NY. They can give you all the info. you need.

ok i hav ea couple questions about this

1. Petition to the Minister of Interior. (How do i do this ?, Where is the Minister of Interior)

2. Affidavit prepared by a Notary Public in which the applicant states his wish to apply for Dominican citizenship. (In what way can i do this, is it a written at any notary public, and need to be legalized)

3. Birth certificate of the applicant, authenticated at a Dominican Consulate and translated into Spanish by an official translator. (This i understand !)

4. Birth certificate of the applicant’s Dominican parent (if he was born in the DR, you will obtain this in the DR without any need for authentication). ( I got the birth certificate of my mother official with all the stamps and signatures)

5. 4 pictures, 2 x 2 inches. ( Fine)

6. Application and newspaper fees. ( Whats newspaper fees ?)

1. You have to send a letter of application to the Minister of the Interior in Santo Domingo.

2. You have to pay to get this done.

6. The citizenship decree is published in a newspaper. You pay for this with the application.

Usually an attorney assists you in the process. The fees are not high. You can also try it on your own.
