Default Squaters

Hi, I have purchase a peice of land and fenced it with a notice of ownership. Now if i do get squatters what can I do ? Is there legal protection and can I get them removoed ? Or do I resort to old fashioned tatctics and pay some very big Dominicans to force them off. I am English and come to the DR 4 times a year but wont be buliding for a few years so theres a high possibility this might happen so i would like to be prepared.
Thanks.

I'd recommend hiring somebody who lives nearby to be your man on the property. His jobs should be to keep the barbwire in good condition, keep the grass and weeds from getting too high, and keep squatters off the property. This is not a high paying job, I'm talking about; very part time. But you want the person to feel he is responsible for the property in your absence. Best to get some respected man who lives in the area.
