Only works the other way around. A woman marrying a Dominican man can get expedited Dominican citizenship. Does not apply for a man who marries a Dominican woman.

The Dominician constitution and the laws for citizenship through marriage only apply toward Dominican men. For example a Dominican man may marry a woman from another country and she may acquire Dominican citzenship by virtue of marriage but a foreign man is not allowed this right through marriage to a Dominican woman.
Rick
Correct me if I'm wrong but I pretty sure this is the case.

I'm not sure if there is a legal fast track. Here are some guidelines, per the moderator of this forum.

thanks for that link.

If I do not meet the above conditions, how can I apply for Dominican citizenship?
Law 1683 dated 1948 and its modifications establishes that a person is eligible to obtain Dominican nationality after:
Having resided continually in the country for at least six months and having formed a business or purchased real estate.
does that mean that if coming to the D.R and establishing a business, one would be more quickly elegible for citizenship?

The rules are pretty clearly spelled out, so I dont think there should be any confusion here: the Migration office should be able to give you all the info you need. I do not yet have citizenship, but I do have permanent residency, and as a result if I choose to become a full citizen I can now do so. For me the process was as follows: I married a Dominican woman, and I applied for residency on that basis. You can apply for residency on other bases as well -- establishing a business, bringing in a certain amount of money with you, etc. But I got my residency via marriage. once I received temp residency, I applied for permanent residency after a certain period, and that residency is good for ten years, at which point I need only renew the cedula. Permanent residency gives me pretty much everything I needed, so I probably wont opt for citizenship, and you may well decide that citizenship is not necessary once you get your residency.

I will once again ask your advice on this, Sr. Guzman:
Fabio, my question is, now that I have had DR permanent residency, and lived here for a relatively long time, and have a dominican spouse and children, if I DO apply for Dominican citizenship, .....
in your experience , does my application just go to the bottom of an eternal pile of other citizenship applications, or can I reasonably expect to be given dominican citizenship sometime before I die, having been a model citizen with no police records, started companies here, paid taxes here, etc.?????
I'm much more interested in the practical answer here, rather than what the law may or may not say, on this matter. If citizenship IS available to someone like me, what would the approximate costs be, using a respected attorney such as yourself ,to do the work?

GringoCarlos, obtaining Dominican citizenship in your case should not be a problem. Email me for details on fees, etc.
