Default My cedula # does not show up.

OK I saw a story today on Clave Digital about how people are getting busted in the airports with official looking cedulas that do not correspond to records in the JCE's database.

I went through all the official rigamarole to get my resident cedula and it was issued right there in the JCE's office in SD but my wife says it doesn't show up in the data base either.

She went to get official permission to take my daughter to New York to visit her Grandmother who lives there, and they told her they had no record of any such person or cedula number.

What does this mean for me? Isn't there a pretty good chance their database is screwed? And does this mean I am not actually a legal resident? What do I do?

I'm not sure that "Non Dominican" Cedulas are listed at the same place. Maybe other members can check theirs and let us know. I checked mine a while back and even though I've had one for 15 years and have renewed it a few times, it was not registered. I wouldn't be overly concerned if I was you.

Mine doesn't show up either. I've had it for many years, had it renewed 4-5 times now, and zilch.
When I asked the last time they renewed, they told me it was in a different file.
I know it's accepted in all the gov't offices..

Default Official Certification

MrMike. Don't worry about it....mines doesn't show either.
Eddy is correct! Non Dominicans, even if residents, can not vote. Therefore do not appear on the JCE voting database. Most offices are not aware of this. I had to go get an official certification of my Cedula from the JCE's office in SD to obtain my gun permit. Maybe you should do the same. It takes approx 5 working days after you have applied for it.
Good luck.

Our cedulas must be in some data base. I know there have been times when i have been asked for my cedula number and the person asking found me on the computer.

It's in a data base used for credit checks etc. If you apply for a loan, financing, credit card or other, they can access it.
