can i enter the DR with an american passport, but when applying for residency show the british passport?

in other words apply for citizenship with a passport that wasnt used to enter the DR?

Then this will be a problem:
" Requisitos indispensables para obtener residencia provisional:
1. Dos fotocopias de la visa o de la tarjeta de turista con la que entro al país. En caso de perdida solicitar una certificación de entrada. Caja #2.
.................."

I am not sure whether you want to apply for Dominican citizenship ( Dominican Passport) or just residency (Permiso Residencia and cedula).
