If you want to work legally read this

http://dr1.com/legal/migration/residences.shtml

Looking for an apartment is easier if you stay in a hotel for a week or so and then go looking, same goes for jobs.

Here are some article for you to read

Hi Sarah, welcome to DR1.

What made you choose the Dominican Republic and in particular Puerto Plata?

Tell us a little about yourself and what it is you want to do when you are there and then we can help answer some of your questions.

You will need between 15 and 25K USD to be able to eat rice and beans with a little chicken and have power for a year.

Hi Linda and Sarah like Daydream I welcome you to DR1. Disregard what Tamborista said and do as Daydream said and explain a little and we will better be able to help you.

Rick, what was wrong with Tamborista's advice to lminnella? Unless one chooses to live like a Dominican, it takes about about 15K-25K to live in the DR for a year.

Rellosk:

Thanks buddy, Rick has a way with words.
I certainly could not live on less than 15K!
I will not even post what I spent in 30 days in January!
That was vacation mode in a first class Condo, perhaps one could live in a shack with a tin roof and pick mangos off the trees for under 500 a month.

Tambo

PS : What kind of a name is lminnella, maybe she is cousins with Listeria!

Here we have 2 new members to DR1 looking for information and they are attacked two times as indicated in red. With enough information from both of them we are more able to help them in a more positive way and Daydream suggested such to them as did I. I live here and support a wife and son and we live very comfortably on less then 15K a year so I know it can be done and just because you can’t do it is no indication that it can’t be done. This has also been discussed to great length on this board and the both of you know it.

If you wish to talk to me in a negative way or attack me I would suggest you take it to PM as this is no place for such especially in front of new members.

Should be even easier for someone without a spouse and child to support.
