Responsible Party For Damaged Door In Robbery

Apartment broke into through front door. Door is damaged and will need to be repaired. Who is responsible for the repair, landlord or tenant? I have asked several people and have gotten an equal number of replies for landlord and for tenant.

Is the landlord responsible for maintaining security for the building? I have requested in the past that they place a steel bar door on the apartment. They refused.
