Question Need a Good Lawyer in STDG

Hello . My mother Needs a Good Immigration lawyer in Santo Domingo. Her petition for her husband seems to be taking too long( since 2001)and she is an U.S Citizen!!! Something is not right... I think they must have screwed up somewhere somehow. We checked status and his case is still in the waitting list for an interview.

Does any one know of any? will appreciate address and phone numbers

Thanks.

Shouldn't you be looking for a lawyer in the US, since (I'm assuming) your mother is trying to bring her husband to the US?

If he is on the waiting list then you don't need to do anything but wait. He has a Case Number and you go to the Consulate website and check the waiting list by case number. When his turn comes up he will receive directions on how to prepare for interview and what date the interview will be.

If on waiting list is absolutely nothing you can do to speed up the process.

I just find it hard to believe since 2001, though she had a change of satus in 2004 when she became a citizen, yet I know people who have taken less than a year, it doesn't sound right

It sounds as if, from the limited info, that she applied for her spouse when she was a permanent resident, which would not fall under an immediate relative of a U.S. citizen. If this is the case, then the time frame you mentioned is not unusual. When she became a citizen in 2004, she could have refiled and applied for him as an immediate relative of a U.S. citizen. the wait if a lot less. And you need a U.S. lawyer, not a dominican lawyer.

Okay, when she bacame a US Citizen...she most probably did refile for him. Then he eventually made it onto the waiting list. That sounds about right. I started the process for my wife two years ago and it will take at least another year. I'm a US Citizen.
