Does a purchaser of Real Estate in the DR have to be in the country to close the sale?
Perhaps this has been asked and answered but I can't locate such a response.

No. It can be done through a POA, in most cases given by the client to his lawyer in the DR.

I should add that a special POA (power-of-attorney) is required, written in Spanish and authenticated at the nearest Dominican Consulate.
