Default Ultrasonography

Hello, I like it here in the Dominican Republic. I have been here for over a year and decided to stay. I have begun the process for residency four months ago. I am an experience self-employed multi-modality Technologist, with over 20yrs. of experience. I notice there are no Ultrasonography Technologist in the hospitals here, all studies are performed by Doctors. I have been informed that there may be a law that allows only Doctors to perform these studies normally performed by Technologist in most countries. I would like to begin offering these noninvasive diagnostic studies primarily in areas not close to major hospitals but very much needed. Studies to include OB/GYN, ABDOMINE, THYROID, RENAL, LIVER, BREAST, TESTICULAR, DOPPLER STUDIES -LOW EXTERIMITY ( FOR DVT ), CAROTID ( FOR STROKE ASSESMENT ), AND EVENTUAL ECHOCARIOLOGY. I would like some assistance in finding if this is a service I can offer instead of working in the U.S.A. for four months and living here for the rest of the year. I reside in Santo Domingo. Thank you very much.

Hi Wanna:

In USA, technniciens do the test and then the images are sent to doctors for the diagnostic. Here, maybe for economical reasons, doctors do both, the test and the diagnostic. Besides that, an ultrasound test is very cheap: it goes from $RD300-1500 (about $US 10-50) If you need more info, you can send me a PM.
