Default Registering a Gun

Does anyone know how to register a gun here in the Dominican Republic?

If, for example, someone were to bring in a gun (and not have it taken away by customs), what is the process to change it from illegal to legal and registered?

Thanks!

You could simply ask the police while you're spending time in a Doninican jail for bringing it into the country.

What Cyabye means is that you DO NOT WANT to do that!! IE., bring in any sort of weapon. If you must have a weapon, you need to get your residency first, and then file for a weapons permit...you can buy a handgun here.

Otherwise, you are in for a very difficult time.

Ok, reading with some tact:
If you were to be able to bring in a gun to the DR (won't ask how, don't want to) and want to make it legal to carry as in a concealed weapon...

Am I going on the right direction here?

Then:

1- You could get your gun a permit by having the "gun" handled by a superior military or police officer into the mix in the shop (not need to be specific understand?)

2-You must have a Dominican Cedula (of sorts) to be able to get a concealed weapon permit.

3- The permit must be renew yearly (a pain in the rear).

4- Lots of cash here and there to have all this proccess take place while you wait for both your Gun and Permit.

5-Nothing is impossible in the DR, just don't ask the stupid gringo question of "Is it legal?"

6- Call me up (more like private mail me) when you get your permit and let's go both to shoot some ammo at the range (my finca). You with your "Gun", me with my "1911-A1"...
