Tax is huge on guns and ammo. Also, if you really want one you should act now, as all gun imports are forbidden at this time. So when they run out you may not be able to get one.
How about bringing in your own gun, I've had mine for over 20 years and am planning to bring it with me when I move to the DR.

Anyone who knows something about the law on reloading your own ammo?

If you can get it in and you know a General in the Military it can be done. But a word of caution, if you are caught bringing it in you will go to jail. Also if you are coming from the US you will also have a major headache.

Would you be able to post further details of the name of the office by Caribe Tours? Telephone #, etc. Thank you in advance any further detail would help greatly for those of us living outside of DR with like circunstances.
Thank you again!

I do not have a phone number for the license office, but I can give you the phone number of the largest gun store in SD that is located down the street from the building I am referring you to.

Armas De Fuego
Av. Francia No. 101
809-221-9042---227-9045.

Buying a secondhand gun is easier you can find them from 30.000 up wards,
After buying your gun with an Abogado you can then carry the gun with the papers from the abogado and the license from the original owner and go down to SD to transfer the gun into your name this will take about a full day . Thiat is what i did.

The charge for the permit was around 13.500 back then 3 years ago.
And 5.800 a year for the yearly renewal which is done here in Sousa,no need to go to SD like we had to before.
and the abogado fee was 3.500
Gun $30.000
licience $13.500
abogado $3.500
total $47.000 peso.

Sky
Thank you very much!

Actually I have a gun in DR. My problem is that I seldom go down there and I have to renew my (even lost) carrying permit. I have not done this for about 10 or more years.
Please if anyone knows what would be the process for me to reactivate my permit, I would appreciate any information. Thanks in advance for any info. I have a Berreta 92SB.
Information I have obtained have ranged from paying astronomical figures in money to wait until after election when possibly a pardon?? or fee forgiveness may come into play.
Please what say you that experts!!!

WOW!
over $100,000 for a Glock??? By God's! What is so big about Glock down there. I would rather use the new Springfield Armory XP or if one would say that money for a Sig Sauer! I have Glocks in my vault only to say I have them and because i have obtained them in opportunity deals at the Gun Clubs I go to. I bet most of them if not all of them have a plastic guide rod? I am still a metal gun type of guy. Yes I said i would rather use the Springfield XP. I think there is nothing better than Berreta or Sig. for Competition go 1911 frame customized.
BTW, is .40 cal allowed in the DR? I hear all takls about 9mm or .45 for the military.

A static I read about North America is that more people, family members or friends are killed by their own guns than ever get a chance to use it on an intruder.

Leave the gun, take the canolie. (sp)

I seriously doubt it, since their law only allows calibers of 9mm(.38?) and under for civilian use. So, no .40; .41; .45; .50; etc..
