Question opening a joint account scotia bank

my spouse is canadian i am dominican and we were interested in opening an account in Scotia bank, they told us that he cant because is prohibited by the law cause it can bee seen as a way to avoid taxes.... is that true?

Go to a different bank. I was at Banco Santa Cruz in Santiago inquiring about opening an account. I am from the US and my fiance lives in Santiago. I was told it would be no problem for me to open an account with certain documents and it would be easier if I opened a joint account with her.

I have an account with Banco Popular,and have my wifes name as well as mine and a Gringo friend ,incase of emergency.
