Question Desperately need phone # of Estado Civil in Puerto Plata

It's been an impossible search for me here in the States! I got married last year in a civil ceremony in Puerto Plata, but I never, ever received my papers to prove I was married. Now I need my Acta Matrimonio and need to contact the Oficialia del Estado Civil in Puerto Plata, but the actual building with their phone number(s) or address seems non-existent by computer! Could somebody pleeeeeeeeease provide me with some info! I can't even change my last name without those papers! I believe there are 2 offices in Puerto Plata, and I was at the larger one. I know that's not much to go on, but truthfully, I wasn't paying much attention to the building! Thank anyone in advance who can find that information!

You cannot resolve this by phone. You need for someone to go to the Oficialía Civil in POP with the names and date of the ceremony, and request a copy of the document. If you want it "oficializado" and "certificado" that will cost you an additional sum.

Get in touch with one of your friends in POP....Send them some money--gasoline is now over $6 a gallon....

The cool way to do it is to tell them that you are sending some money for them to do you a big favor. Send the names and date and ask them to get the documents with all the bells and whistles..Yes. $5.59 a gal this week....wait until after the elections...
Diesel is about a dollar cheaper...
And subsidized propane is RD$59.95 and I think the non-subsidized is around RD$81 or so...

HB, thank you for my "script" which I will most certainly use! Lol And I'm sitting here trying not to scream at those prices!! Who would ever believe diesel could be sold a dollar cheaper than gasoline?? Could've used that sort of deal when I had my old Mercedes ("old" being the operative word here)! Only 3 more days till the election! I'm almost afraid to know what will happen to the prices afterwards.

For your information:

- the Estado Civil on Beller (Primera Circunscripción) is the one you want if it was a civil ceremony

- the one on Doce de Julio (Segunda Circunscripción) is for those who were married in a religious ceremony.

... J-D,
I went into the 12 de julio office this morning to check - number for Beller office (i.e. the one awilliams friends should go to) is 809-586-3616. The 12 de julio office is 809-261-5039. Your friends might also want to take a look at the JCE website
Matrimonios

As HB said it needs to be done in person and don't go looking for email addresses because they don't have them (I was told this morning).
