Labor Law; Is the Minimum Wage by Sector Monthy?
In the Overview of Dominican Labor Law, are the Minimum wage figures per month, and also or those amounts current for 2008? or have they increased. Thanks.

You would have to first tell us which figures you are using/looking at, or at least post a link or paste the text, from which you are getting your present info.

If you are looking at the Dominican Labor Law overview posted here, the figures are monthly and are NOT current. Maybe Sr Guzman can update this for us.

Yes, I was looking at the posting on DR1, An Overview of Dominican Law, so those monthy figures are not current? So more or less a business in general holding capital of up to 2,000,000.00 pesos pays 3,900 pesos a month, according to the chart. Thanks again for your imput.

Reason: holding was spelled wrong

I found this, still looking for the exact figures, but a call to the labor department said they could not quote a minimum until they knew what the worker would be doing, ie block layer is different than carpenter and different too than resort worker..bla bla bla.
Hope this helps, it is more up to date. Ley Laboral

I think those are old minimum wage quotes. About a year ago, they were changed. I seem to remember the 6,400 was changed to 7360 or close to that. I pay all my employees more than that, so I don't remember for positive. I also remember an article in dominicantoday.com that said resort workers were now 5730, but don't quote me on that. Maybe someone else can research that for me, as I have spent way too many hours on it, today!

Here are the current minimum salaries:
RD$7,360.00/month - businesses worth more than RD$4M
RD$5,060.00/month - more than RD$2M but less than 4M
RD$4,485.00/month - below RD$2M
These minimums do not apply to certain industries such as tourism. The minimum salary for a hotel worker is RD$5,575.00/month.

But there are other rules governing people who earn commission. Make sure you understand them too.
