container & vehicle exc. expire after 6 months?

I have heard the container and vehicle tax reduction program dr 168 expires 6 months after your temporary residency. Is this true? anybody use this program.
Appreciate the advice.

Residency and Citizenship in the Dominican Republic

This question comes up a lot and in the above link, a one year rule is mentioned so I am not sure if it is now one year or 6 months, nor am I certain when that time period starts.

So adding when exactly during the period of Temporary Residency/Permanent Residency can the container be imported with less duty on a car and lower to no duties on most household goods would be great. Can those in the know respond and also update that information at the above location as well?
