Maybe they are the only ones' with patience to respond and ensure facts posted here are accurate and honest.
Others, like myself, cant even follow them and are thus bored to tears.

So tell me if you were the OP reading everything these guys have had to say, would you bother looking into the residency exemption or just pay the 43k or send the stuff back?

One of the continuing themes on DR1 is that it's not what you know, but WHO you know. To a greater extent, I believe that, and have experienced how that works. Yet when that axiom is applied, folks come out of the woodword claiming it's not exactly true. Which is it? Knowing "important" people is how it works? Or it matters not?

CB,
This is exactly the reason that Delores' and my future in the DR is not based on posters to this board or their advise. We have found a Dominican individual and family that we completely trust and they have no reason, financially or otherwise, to have other than our best interest at all times. We ask for their help and advise in many matters and it is relied upon.
Of course you know that he and they are only a few doors up the "Avenue".

I would take the path of least resistance and follow the advice of seasoned expats, who between them, have 60+ years of valuable experience and innate wisdom.

Well seeing how that doesn't include me apparently I guess the OP just needs to come up with 43k pronto.
No offense, but this has got to be some bizarro type of logic for sure.
Sometimes it not about credentials, but just common sense.

Wouldn't ANY prudent person at the very least investigate this "new law"?C'mon 43 large isn't chopped liver in anybody's way of thinking. At least not for me. Hell, what does it take to investigate trying to save that kind of money. I would go out to JFK tonite, get my butt down there and start working, talking, dealing, and whaterver to save those kinds of bux.

TheHun's original post does not give enough information to give him solid advice.
Things like:
-Does he already have his DR residency and the paperwork in hand within the 6 month window of time to attempt to claim the exemption? Or is he planning on doing his move first, and THEN getting DR residency?
-Is he attempting to move a container load of valuable family antiques in for his new household?
-Did he go out and buy all new goods to move to the DR, and everything is still in their respective original manufacturer's boxes?
Just asking, don't jump on me.........

I think these are all good questions. To that end that is why I recommended to the OP that he look into the residency option just in case he hadn't.

They said if I use the mudanza, I still have to pay around $ 30 grand. And NO, this is NOT include the shipping itself.
I'm thinking to sell everything I have and just take the cash at this point.
They want me to buy my things again.
Do you think that this is the regular fee or I'm being just taken as a sucker???
I'm getting other quotes now.
Anyone has any connection some high ranked custom officer who can be bribed???

I'd also add:
He has only gotten a quote and was smart enough to question the fee. He has not shipped anything so no worries about having to ship it back and is actually considering selling his stuff and starting fresh in the DR.
I think he has the right idea...I want to live in a less stressful environment, not add to my stress level with IMO unnecessary complications..."but to each his own"

yeap GCarlos,
those are important q's
and btw your prior post been a great one.
to the car rates,
i bought 2 years ago a 8 years old(by that time 8) hinda accord,
top outside conditions, engine trouble free til today(had just 60.000 miles on it), couple nice extras included for 10K.
a simple limousine like it is would not be worth that in europe,
now with 10 years i think in germany i would need to pay to get rid of it, here it is a car for my daily needed runs on the business road and worth money. on newer models i would say you pay here a 25-30% more than in the US. can not actually compare to european rates, but usually cars are more expensive there than in the US(same models).
