Default 90 Day Tourist Visa/Card

I know this subject has probably been talked about before, but please explain again: OK, entering the DR as a "tourist" costs $ 10.00 for 90 days, correct??

I read some guide books, and there is a lot of wild information on times, fees, etc.

Did the tourist visa/entry card law change recently?

Gracias,

Leonardo

Yes it has changed. it's only good for 14 days now. If you stay longer you pay a fee on exit whether it be for 15 days or 5 years.

3 months to 9 months: RD$500
9 months to 12 months: RD$2000
1 year to 1-1/2 years: RD$3500
1-1/2 year to 2 years: RD$4500
2 years to 2-1/2 years: RD$6000
2-1/2 years to 3 years: RD$8000
3 years - 5 years:RD$12,000
More than 5 years: RD$15,000

And don't forget the $ 20.00 US that everyone has to pay when they leave unless they have residency.

When I fly to Europe I do so via Punta Cana and I have never had to pay $20... neither from SDQ flying to the USA or Panama.

I think maybe some are including the price of the ticket.

The tourist card tax is valid for 30 days. See Travel documents to enter the Dominican Republic

The exit tax is US$20 and is now regularly included in the airline ticket price. No one pays it anymore at the airport counters.
