Unfortunately no longer true. As from today it is offline completely. Boiler is punctured. There are likely to be more blackouts.

Well, that is certainly not good new. Time to call in the steam fitters and boiler makers.

Default Any experiance using PROTECOM Consumer Protection regarding Electricity?

Superintendencia de Electricidad República Dominicana

Has anyone ever gone to this agency, allegedly set up to protect the consumer in matters of electricity, and had them resolve conflicts with Edenorte/CDEEE?

I would be very interested to know about the proper procedures and any successes or failures since it is against the law for consumers who request and pay for electricity to not be provided with it.

Default Update from Edenorte

Thanks to "TRACK", we met with Edenorte officials today to discuss our local power situation. We discussed our local problem and should have a response in about 3 weeks as to what is possible.

During the conversation, we were told that Edenorte is working slowly to provide 24/7 power to the Puerto Plata area and hopes for this to be completed by 2010. CDEEE has a schedule for the rest of the country to be on 24/7 power in 2012.

In the short term, San Felipe in POP went back on line yesterday, so power is a little better on the north coast. The high fuel prices earlier this year used up all of the money appropriated for fuel and now more money must be found. The lack of fuel in the other generators does mean that the power grid is still stretched very thin and longer blackouts will still happen in the short term.
