It is legal, however, if you have to go to court you'll have to have it translated by a certified legal translator. Also, if you made a deposit, it is obvious that the owner is pocketing your deposit instead of depositing it in the Banco Agrícola as mandated by law, since the Banco Agrícola only accepts contracts in Spanish. Finally, if the signatures are not authenticated by a Notary, the owner may also deny that the lease was ever signed by him (her).
