We all have different opinions, no need to apologize, just tone it down 1/2 a notch.

Default SouthWest USA Border?

I know nothing about Immigration issues but this confuses me a little.

What about the dozens or hundreds of Illegal Mexicans picked up daily in Az. and Texas? Unless I was watching TV drunk again, they are summarily deported

I am not speaking out my a$$ because I have many friends who work immigration and they only deport known criminals when they complete their prison term in the US.

Yes most of them are, as long as border control catchs them if its ICE then its another story, then the matter is looked at and somebody decides yes or no or you have a court date, etc.
different if your caught in the act or later. badpiece33 I believe is in NYC loonnng way from the border.

I have had the pleasure of knowing some deportees and they all seem to have jobs if they'd like one. If his English is good, chances are he'll get a decent job.

People get deported all the time after being picked up in an immigration raid w/o having committed any other criminal activity, other than being in the U.S. illegally. Happens around the country daily, specially here in TX.

Why would that matter?? The OP asked about the procedures when a deported person gets home. She did not ask for personal opinions on deportees which is plenty of what she got in this thread.

To answer the OP, for what I know, they take the deported to the police to get all the paperwork and to "ficharlo" for future reference (which is I believe a bad practice, people have been deported for traffic violations), and then they release him/her to family members in the DR.

I find it very hard to believe that any Dominican has ever been deported for a traffic violation. Where are your sources?

You obviously don't live in a border state. Otherwise you'd know that this statement couldn't be more incorrect. An extremely high number of individuals are deported every year simply because they are here illegally. In fact, they likely outnumber those who are deported because of criminal records.

Use this as a frame of reference. In 2004, Homeland Security made it a goal to deport 460,000 illegal immigrants. Of that number, only 80,000 were known to have criminal records.

I recently read about a raid on a clothing factory where 400 illegal immigrants were detained and started upon deportation procedures. These people didn't have criminal records. But they were deported.
