I have no experience in online payments in the DR, but up till now have been running 3 very succesful internet businesses in Europe. We did accept Paypal for a long time and were relatively happy with them, but do no longer accept them as payment method, simply because they are all about protecting the buyer and not the seller. If a buyer makes a complaint PP will freeze your account and pay back the buyer, unless you can prove you have been completely correct.
Some examples: a buyers puts in a claim with PP that he did not receive the goods. We had sent it by UPS, but they passed it onto another company who did not ask for a signature on delivery. PP refunded the money. Another buyer claimed the goods he received were not the correct ones and that he shipped them back to us. He actually send us an empty box, but could prove he had sent a shipment to us. PP refunded him the total amount of 3,000 €.
So, be careful with Paypal, they are great for transactions between individuals, but not for professional use.
Anyway, great thread here, as I intend to move to the DR soon, and continue my businesses over there.

She was not really clear about it.
I wonder if anyone has an online store set up in the DR who could give me some info / advice?
To set up an online store, or to get into online credit card processing is an easy step in the US or EU.
I can't believe it's not available here.
PayPal would be an option, however PP is not a banking institute, therefor your money isn't secured. They can hold your $ and there is not much you can do about it, since banking laws won't regulate them. They have their own rules and that's it.
Please, if you know any online store based in the DR who takes CC trough their website, or have any other info about web based CC processing, please let me know!
Thank you!

I didn't read this entire thread, but have you tried using paypal? They have a merchant account that you can have implemented. Do you have any terms? such as a money back guarantee? if so, sometimes the merchant/Bank may not want to take a deal like this unless you put some money up for any charge backs etc..and if there are too many, you will risk losing the account. Banks are real funny now as I'm sure that you are aware of.

be assured that TheHun is aware of that.
i use PayPal myself for the smaller payments like deposits to be received.
but to run a real online business specially with the north american market like myself or in the cae of TheHun who works with dominican customers, you need to accept credit cards online to be competitive.
customers on those 2 big markets want to use their credit card directly and hasslefree, and that's what the thread is all about.

OU812,
my account at PayPal is a business account.
but i would not trust themj for bigger stuff, sorry that i have not been clear, but no prob.
i just use it to receive deposits and every few K's on the account i always take over to one of my regular accounts to not leave more than one or two thousand on PayPal to use for AD payments/refunds or such.
Robert,
will check that Google Pay now.

o.k.,
ben reading the google pay info pages.
it is similar to PayPal,
and a buyer who wanna purchase throu that system needs to sign up for a google account first,
that's exactly what i do not need additionally.
for straight online sales on a website the direct credit card processing is needed, client clicks 'check out' on his shopping cart and get's right away directed to the merchant's site where he fill's in his credit card details, press's 'send' and all is done.
otherwise PayPal does the job the same way and many millions of customers worldwide have PayPal anyways and are used to it, don't need to set up a new kind of account again.
