Gun traspaso; how much?
I've read the thread "how much does it cost for a gun permit in D.R.? " and the answer provided by Mike.
Now the following came up;
As we were going to live in a remote spot, we let someone purchase a gun for us. As he had a permit, that wasn't a problem. He took the risk of giving us the gun (which was paid for by us, but still on his name untill we were elligible for our own permit,).
Now, due to medical reasons, we have to return to Europe and found someone who's willing to buy the gun (this person already has a weapon's permit).
Our friend (with the permit for the weapon), who has the weapon now, wrote us a mail that he could get the traspaso done by an armsdealer (where the gun was brought to be put up for sale).
OK, now for the questions:
Is this legal? (the traspaso through the arms dealer)
and second, he told us that the total sum to get all paperwork done, would be 22,000 DR$. (tax, around 6,000 DR$, included). So the traspaso would be around 16,000 DR$. Is this normal or is there a hidden fee for the arms dealer/middleman in there somewhere?)
And finally, to clarify the above question; is the traspaso calculated on the selling price or is it a fixed amount?
We are leaving the country (unfortunately) in 3 weeks, so I would be gratefull if someone could help us out on this.
TIA,
Chris
