What does the contract say?
If you haven't yet signed a contract, check to see what is normal in the case of other teachers. ~ Grahame.

There has been no contract signed for 2 years. Not sure what the original one said.

The 'local' teachers all recieve pay through the summer.

By law my wife has to pay salaries all year. If you don't have a contract that says September to June and the school (private) collects fees for June and July I would think that unless they've given you notice, that you would be subject to the same rules as the Dominican teachers.
