Divorce petitioned from US vs DR
Hi, this interesting topic arose from a previous thread on a divorce-related matter.
On the topic of divorce in the case of a Dominican citizen and a non-Dominican citizen:
MY understanding (far from subject matter expert or even novice on divorce) was that DR has mutual consent (the so-called "quickie divorce") BUT, if the U.S. citizen serves the Dominican spouse via international service, then the Dominican spouse has every right to due process in the US. This would be a painful process I would imagine.
Question to Dr. Guzman and the entire community: What's the best way for the U.S. citizen?
