Default Divorces

Any information on DIVORCES please...
I am Canadian, and my worse half is Dominican...
We married in Dominican Republic 2005.

Should I get divorced in Dominican, or just get divorced here in Ontario? Here we have to be seperated 1year before filing for divorce. ANyone know what is easiest and cheapest and fastest way to do this?

Thank you

Forget Immigration Corolla , there's nothing that can be done about that now. If he is in agreement you can get a Quick Dominican divorce but one of you has to travel to the DR to get it. Might be best to do it in Canada. Yes you have to be separated for a year but what's the hurry, being separated especially if you have nothing to divide is just as good as being divorced. The only time you need to be officially divorced in Canada is if you want to re marry and I'm sure you don't need or want that at the moment.

Settle the any visiting rights or child support issues between the two of you. It's better that way.

Good luck

According to the Canadian divorce act, article 8(2)a) you have to be separated for 1 year... because that separation is the ground for the divorce action.

Article 8(2)b) is for other grounds like adultary....

If i were you I would consult a lawyer in Ontario specially if you have things to divide.
