A fair Texas Hold Em Poker Game?
Hi guys,
I recently played Texas Hold Em Poker at the Paradise Casino in Playa Dorada but I couldnt help feeling that I was being cheated. The owner was playing there and several othe close friends of his. Also the game was no limit and quite expensive, some hands were as much as 800 US Dollars!
Does anyone know of an honest game on the North Coast? perhaps a limit game, as this usually eliminates the ability for a small group to push any given individual out of a hand.
Thanks

Howdy and bueno nuevo ano! I don't think you really need an answer to what you suspect was occuring. Even if things were on the up and up you were over your head.
I have noticed and played in a game at the Chiquita Casino outside of Sosua. I looked for tourists firstly and then at the game in general. Can't remember what the game was probably $ 2.00-$ 4.00 or DRP $200-$400 or with maximum three raises. Maximum seating was 8 persons. The game was pleasant. The house hosts were informative and relaxed. No pressures, hustling, what not. Nice vibes.
Caught three out of the first five hands as must plays. Every time another player hung on and sucked out on the river. Buenos Noches! But, never felt set up or anything like that. Will certainly look forward to playing again on next visit.
Hope this helps. John

Oh boy! I think you know the answer to your own question. I went to a casino with a general one night as his guest. We were treated like royalty. The general was winning everything and he acted as if he was really that lucky. Really? Everything was fixed and those (others) that were playing that day were donating their money for his happiness. I certainly can second that!
Hi newrndhere,
I play down at Playa Chiquita maybe three times a week or more, great game, it is like Duhtree said a limit game, 200 pesos three raises maximum and you can bet 400 pesos on the river card.
There is always a great selection of guys who play down there, friendly atmosphere, good hosts etc.
Playa Chiquita is really a local casino, with a good mix of dominicans, expats and tourists, I couldnt recomend this game enough.
Any of you out there who know me will know that when I say it is honest, I mean what I say.
Anyhow, hope that answers it and hope to see you down there soon
Nick

Playa Chiquita is in Sosua.
Try Casino Diamante @ Hotel Matum or Gran Almirante in Santiago.

You were defently cheated. I know the owners and general manager. The general manager owns that table. He plays all night on that table, you probably noticed the attendants comming to him with the paper work to sign for large winnings for the casino. That is his game, you bing some cash and play against the owner and his son, the general maneger and the loanshark for the casinoand some of the resort managers. overal the days loser is you. You were husledand the games were fixed.I don't know if you cought the general managers name but did miguel sound familiar. In the north coast you might want to try the casino in santiago, it's the biggest in north coast.

How much is the buy-in?
I thought it was a hundred or $200.
Don't they play tournament style where everybody buys in for a set amount and that is it?
Once your chips are gone, you are out of the game?
Are you saying they play this game and people can just buy in again and bet whatever they want?
This is total bull**** if this is the case.
I suppose it is not hard to believe coming from the criminals who ran that Progressive Roulette scam.
They should have been arrested for that one.

That game in paradise is real BS
Hi Guys,
I was at paradise the other night and enquired what the buy in was, it is now $500 USD, you cant buy in during a hand, and they dont have any kind of tournament. Even though you cant buy in during a hand there were five guys there (the same five guys as always) with about $5,000 USD in front of them! you cant compete against this unless you have an unlimited bank roll!
Btw. The game used to be played in pesos but in the last few weeks they have changed it to dollars
My advice, dont play it.
I dont know about the game in santiago, if someone could post specific details that would be nice but like I said before the best game on the north coast has to be Playa Chiquita in sosua. If anyone from pop ever needs a ride down there btw and I am going I would be happy to oblige just send me a PM.
