Hotel is about ready to open. It is being done by the owners of Cemento Cibao. However, sources tell me that Cementos Cibao is is deep doo-doo because of stupidity, high operating costs and ineffective management. Can anything else go wrong? Probably.
The now-deceased owner, Huascar Rodríguez, was sort of a flibbity-gibbit, never making a plan and sticking to it. Wall up here? No, take them down. Golf? Yes! No! Maybe? WTF knows!!

Unfortunately, I understand that his son is not much better, just younger version without the experience of Papa.
RE: HOMS = Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago. A very, very ambitious project that has an incredible line-up of MDs and business and academic leaders among its board of directors. They were supposed to get a $25 million loan guarantee from the government, but, while it was announced, it has not been forthcoming. A US health facility administrator will be running the place and it has agreements with Mayo, Cleveland and Jackson as well as Mt. Sinai.
It will also provide health care under Medicaid and Medicare.
When? I just don't know.

Events in Santiago: I saw the Lechones de los Jardines out in all their gear yesterday, as we came back from golf. Pretty impressive display of Carnival gear.
