well everything takes place around the monument and the main road through town. But this year there may be festivities around the new Las Colinas mall...just a guess. Although you may want to confirm that with AZB.

That's not very specific.

But I guess if I'm asking for a specific answer, I should be more specific in my question. Are there events planned for the weekend of February 11th in Santiago?

I know, I know, there is much more going on in La Vega.

DMS, i have changed my gym hours to 830pm - till I finish. A lot less people and no skinny girls struggling with 5 lbs weights.
I have not seen zoom yet. i will check it out soon.

yes what about the scheduled events for the upper class folk?

plays, opera, ballet, wine tasting.... and balls going on??????

and i like the idea of you regularly posting this info....lets here it for AZB hip hip...and all that stuff....ha ha ha

as far as the festival in santiago...I heard it happens at or near the monument as well. I was excited about it enough to ask my gf if she wanted to go!..she said NO.. and a resounding one at that.... she said that it gets kinda wild and there is a lot of bumping and shoving going on with the "joyous" events.. and she got bumped around way too much for her liking.....same goes with the rest of the family.....so I dont know exactly what that means....sounds like a mosh pit to me!

can anyone give me any info on the bar called Las Vegas
on the way out of santiago heading towards Navarette? I saw it once just going by. it looked BIG, but when i went to go there one night the lights were all off........thanks BOB

Hotel is about ready to open. It is being done by the owners of Cemento Cibao. However, sources tell me that Cementos Cibao is is deep doo-doo because of stupidity, high operating costs and ineffective management. Can anything else go wrong? Probably.
The now-deceased owner, Huascar Rodríguez, was sort of a flibbity-gibbit, never making a plan and sticking to it. Wall up here? No, take them down. Golf? Yes! No! Maybe? WTF knows!!
Unfortunately, I understand that his son is not much better, just younger version without the experience of Papa.

RE: HOMS = Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago. A very, very ambitious project that has an incredible line-up of MDs and business and academic leaders among its board of directors. They were supposed to get a $25 million loan guarantee from the government, but, while it was announced, it has not been forthcoming. A US health facility administrator will be running the place and it has agreements with Mayo, Cleveland and Jackson as well as Mt. Sinai.
It will also provide health care under Medicaid and Medicare.

When? I just don't know.

Events in Santiago: I saw the Lechones de los Jardines out in all their gear yesterday, as we came back from golf. Pretty impressive display of Carnival gear.

I passed by the hotel and the hospital construction sites yesterday. the hotel seems 90% done but it seems the last 10% (fine detailing) has come to a stand still. No further work seems to be going on there so some time. I hope they finish it soon.
The hospital project has come to a stand still a few years ago. I know doctors personally who have their money stuck in that project. This project was supposed to be a gold mine if you had an office inside. Many people paid upfront for the offices in advance to secure a place. The new government announced that it would re-start the project but still, no action there so far.

The las vegas disco is only hottest on fridays when they have a live act. Musica typica is the music which is played on that side of town. You have various other discos who offer the same events: musica typica. Tinaca offers Prodigio and then there is another disco right in front with a million cars parked. So naturally las vegas offers the same music show case. all 3 discos admit women for free and charge the men 250 pesos - 300 pesos depending on the act. Some times the men can make a deal with the door man and pay one ticket and admit two guys. It all depends on the doorman, some allow at at certain nights and other don't. The place is full of chopos and girls come in great numbers. A single guy can meet a fine looking barrio girl because most of the guys are either chopos or malvestidos (dressed in poor taste). Everyone goes there to watch the band, drink and dance. Women often go from one disco to another because their entrance is free. The booze are also lower priced than other main stream bars/discos.
Enjoy.

Went there last month. Spent 5 minutes inside. Then left to go to Ahibar. Zoom is crock!!! I didn't like what I saw in those 5 minutes so decided to leave.
