........they are the OPENDNS.ORG numbers..........

but I find that the OPENDNS numbers from 4.2.2.1 to 4.2.2.6 work better.

Try PINGING each of them from a c:\ prompt and use the ones that have a faster return...........make a list and try them all. I think you'll find that the 4's ping faster...........even though we are only talking fractions of seconds

I have not had service from Codotel all day long. Thank god for cable back up.

This always happens at the most in opportune times and as everyone knows, the phone calls to their office are futile.

After a while you kind of get used of it so your blood does not boil......it's that bad

On the bright side, I love this weather !

Get your data straight...
I'm familiar with PR's current telecommunication infrastructure, and no where other than in San Juan have full FO taken the load from the still going copper trunks... As a matter of fact, some areas of Metro San Juan are still serviced only via copper by the Telcos. The services there are limited to ADSL and no optical carriers have made any attempt to link them yet...

On the other hand, the DR deploys nation-wide trunks in full OC and even remote locations are wired by the newer technologies than Metro cities due to high costs. Yet for all this, San Juan is a very good example of how to deploy top technology without disrupting the current as the work advances.
Verizon take heed**

All The countries you listed have relatively better deployment of new technologies in the Metro cities, but ALL lack nation -wide coverage as the DR does... Until the gap between a half lollypop and a full wrapped one becomes shut, the DR enjoys the MOST advanced national deployed telecommunications system as provided and argued by your post...

My friend were do i get my Info!!!!! I am an engineer with a private firm in Puerto rico and we work all over latin america in regards to manufacturing of Chemical & Industrial manufacturing plants. In my experienced seeing systems like the PRT comparing it to Codetel i have to be very honest the ATM Frame relay so its call by PRT runs on 100% Fiber optics since 1998. Also from 2000-2007 Centennial Puerto rico has invested over 500 million dollars in fiber optics frame separate to the PRT. So in Puerto rico we have more than one Infrastructure for large size data transfers. That is why Puerto rico is the Hub for the Americas for Electronic Transactions as per the Headquarters Evertertec which runs all the ATM/VISA/MC/AMEX transacation in 98% all of the Caribbean and Central America as well as great portions of South America thru their hubs in Puerto rico. I Also want to point out that Cable Companies in Puerto rico have offer Broadband since 1999 with the introduction of Powerlink all digital service with actual speeds up to 5MB and for business 20MB or more it is rumor that Onelink Puerto rico Formerly Adelphia will be bought by Giant Comcast. I have Powerlink i just recently this morning ran a test with an average 10 MB Download and upload 1.8 MB this is mainly on sunday moorning like now when there is not allot of traffic but average i never go under 5 MB downloading in Peak times this speeds are also available in the rest of the Island so as Liberty Cablevision is offering the same speeds as in San Juan as well as Choice Cable. Also centennial has improved their Wireless broadband up to almost 4 MB. Having Properties in La romana and recently in Cap Cana having my self Codetel Claro as well as Broadband form telecable nacional and testing Orange and Centennial dominicana i have to say honestly that the service in Puerto rico is 1000% better and More Stable and way faster than anything being offer or available or in the works in the Dominican Republic as well as most Latin American countries that i have visited and work.

Pichardo it is so Mind Bottling to me that you even mention that the D.R has better communications that puerto rico when the Examples are Clear:

PRT DMAX DSL OR ADSL

UP to 5mb Download 1.4 MB UPload ( Average Speed very STABLE)

Codetel Internet Flash Mostly ADSL

UP to 1.5 MB Download 800Kpbs Upload ( That is what they say)

Reality from my recent speed test

In la Romana ( Casa de campo) 01/05/08
512 Kpbs Download Upload 128 KPBS

In Cap Cana ( Punta Cana) 01/07/08

298 KPBS Download Upload 91 KPBS

Claro Codetel New Banda Ancha

1.5 MB Download Maximum Speed

Actual 1/07/08 Sierra wireless card

Punta Cana 633 KPBS Download Upload 196 KPBS

La Romana 422 KPBS Download Upload 101 KPBS

Test run Malecon Center 1/09/08

La Capital

722KPBS Upload 303 KPBS

CLARO PUERTO RICO Same Card!!!!*********

Right Now!!! 01/20/08

Download 2.2 MB Download Upload 896 KPBS

Powerlink Right Now Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Download 11.1 MB Upload 1.7 MB Beat that in the D.R for 39.99( Dollars) with the digital combo)

You cannot compare In Puerto rico Speeds and Stability Kills the D.R Infrastructure like a atomic Bomb!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, now we all know where to bring our complaints when the ATMs in the DR just spit out some error code receipt when withdrawing money while debiting the money from the account. Now we all know who gets to keep the money ... at least for some time

Maybe it has to do with the signal in D.R that distorts the numbers in the receipt i had not witness that problem over here!!!!!
