With reference to Dr. Fredy Lepe's dental surgery in Puerto Plata, there is a now a new Dra. - Dra. Dahlia Joseph & she is good. Same day appointment (I'd had approx 36 hours of pain hoping it would go away but phoned this morning). She sent me off for the panoramica Xray which indicated a root canal. As the roots were twisted Dr. Lepe offered the services of a new root canal specialist in PP but I declined (less confidence in someone I don't know). I didn't know Dahlia either but Dr. Lepe was available to consult & supervise. Back this afternoon & work commenced. Dahlia is very dextrous - small hands but can easily mange without a dental nurse so those 2 small hands seem to do the work of 3. She is a welcome addition to the team.

And when she was at PUCMM one of her teachers was Mrs. HB I discovered.

Again, we need medical practitioners, hopefully strong 3rd party recommendations, listed on this thread.

If you have an alternative medical qualification, please give the name of the qualification, as well as the qualifying body and the DR1 will consider whether to include the alternative practitioners.

Default US Embassy list

Note that this list is not a recommendation, as I believe that anyone can be listed on it. However, I does contain information on practioners who speak English, which may be useful for readers.

He is at the Centro Medico Cibao, on Juan Pablo Duarte in Santiago, across from the Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and the Texaco Station. First floor, past the reception desk, first door on your left, first office on the left. First come, first served. You can call for an appointment, I do believe.

Default Excellent Neurosurgeon in POP

In August 2004 I had an operation on my spine to remove a fractured disc and free the trapped sciatic nerve. This was performed by Dr Roberto Spitale in Centro Medico in Puerto Plata, with a general surgeon colleague doing the assisting. I saw him one morning in his office, had an MRI in Santiago the next day, tests and X-Rays the following day and the operation three days later - all within a week. I was home in three days and back riding my horse in 6 weeks. This was after having suffered excrutiating back pain for over 15 years in the UK, diagnosed as wear and tear! He works in Centro Medico and I will post his office details tomorrow. He speaks fluent English. I actually had to pay myself for this as my insurance did not cover pre-existing conditions and it was a fraction of the cost I would have had to pay in the UK IF I had the option of the treatment, which I very much doubt. I truly believe I would have ended up in a wheelchair if he hadnt operated.

I have personally seen the results of his work, and they are excellent. Breast implants and liposculpture only. Can't tell you personally about any other procedures.

He's one of only two plastic surgeons in DR who maintain active memberships in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Default MRI - Santiago

This is where I had a spinal MRI - I found it to be an excellent facility and very reasonably priced.
