Hello everyone. DR1.com is trying to put together a list of reputable physicians in the Dominican Republic (i.e. doctors, dentists, chiropractors).

Dr. Josè Luis Abreu in the Clinica Abreu in S.Domingo. He has been our children's pediatrician for 7 years and I consider him wery good, he was reccomended to us by the most famous, but now not working anymore, pediatrician Hugo Mendoza.

There are many threads in the archives re doctors recommended by dr1ers. I have written several myself, one including a list of doctors I recommended based on personal experience.

Why not do what we always tell others to do, i.e., look in the archives and make use of the good information already available to you.

Thanks for the suggestion Ken. I've already searched and found some physicians. No hurt in trying to find more, right?

Hillbilly has also made lots of recommendations so you could search his threads as well as Ken's. And I have frequently recommended Dr.James Bailes, medical practitioner, in Costambar & Dr. Fredy Lepe, dentist, in Puerto Plata so you could check mine as well.

If you've already searched, as I've just seen, might be an idea to post your list here to save people needing to duplicate? Then if there are any changes to the contact info we could let you know.

Dr. Fernando Contreras. He does Gastro and I believe he is still the resident doctor for all Peace Corps volunteers in the DR. He works at the Torre Piantini in SDQ. When I get his # I'll repost.

He's very good. Speaks perfect English and studied in the US which made me more comfortable.

Ken, we are not looking for a doctor in a specific field, we are looking for doctors in general that people have had good experiences with.

As TJ has pointed out, we have pulled plenty out of the archives, but as we all know, the DR has more good doctors than mentioned in our archives.

Keep the doctors and surgeons coming people!
