Can someone recommend a good spa/alternative health retreat and a good place to get a massage in the Puerta Plata area?

Do you mean right in the city of Puerto Plata or the general POP/Sosua/Cabarete areas?

Preferably in the city but open to other suggestions as long as I can travel there by bus and maybe a short taxi ride, as I dont have a vehicle.

If you want a spa experience - Jasmine Spa, Carretera Touristica. If you go for a day then they will arrange transportation for you. Jasmine Spa and Wellness for info.

I have had several treatments there - fabulous. The spa is run by a Canadian registered massage therapist and she has trained several locals from the area. I highly recommend it.
