Default Physical Therapist in Sosua Area?

Barbara broke her ankle March 15 and has been in a cast nearly the entire time plus the next 3 weeks. Contributing to length of time is failure to heal properly in first cast and need to pin the break. Therapy is anticipated once the cast is off.

Is there a competent physical therapist in the greater Sosua area, someone closer than Puerto Plata?

Default Using Portable Ultrasound

Perhaps I should make this a separate thread, but since it is related to my first question, I'll try it here.

As an alternative to going to a therapist, Barbara is wondering about doing her own therapy using a portable ultrasound and exercises in the swimming pool. There seem to be a number of affordable portable ultrasound units available now for home use, some, such as the ReliaMed 1000 unit on Amazon with very good user feedback.

My question is if there is anyone who has used a portable ultrasound. If so, I would like to communicate with you about your experience with it.

i had ultra sound on my knees.......its difficult to tell if it did any good because arthritus goes into remission for periods anyway, but it did seem to help.... i should imagine regular use with your own machine would be better than my twice a week treatments

Doesn't this depend on the quality of the ultrasound machine?

Is it possible to purchase one in the DR that is the same type doctors and physical therapists use?

I know you can find ones for home use on Ebay, but I'm willing to bet anything that they are crap.

I am not quite sure if ultrasound is applicable on a fractured bone. I think it would be better once the bone is healed up. Now if one doesn't know how to use an ultrasound, you can actually burn the ultrasound head thus, making the machine useless. So better know how to use an ultrasound unit properly and know the proper setting for your condition.

Ken, if you want to have a chat with Dr. James Bailes about both of these matters I can let you have his phone number if you don't already have it.
