Default Battery price update

I was just quoted the following prices from Luis Hernandez in Moca:

Energy - 3,500
US Battery 1800 -3,650
Trojan Black - 3,650
Trojan Red - 4,450

In Gaspar Hernandez at Alexis Inversores:

Energy 3,610
Napa 4,450

In Sosua at Easy Power:
Trojan Red 5,200
Interstate 4,200

Ferreteria LLibre also had Energy Batteries, I believe the price was 4,000.

Regarding my purchase previously of "Energy Power" (not the same as the Energy batteries I mentioned above) Batteries in Santiago that failed after less than one year, the owner of the store denies that he was responsible for miss-labeling the batteries as 250AH when in fact they are actually 200AH and refuses to honor any replacement under warranty. The factory that made the batteries and the exporter have told me that the store owner had applied the labels. So, I am screwed on that.

Default ENERGY batteries made in El Salvador NOT USA

I have been told by a battery exporter from the US that ENERGY batteries are made in El Salvador. Those of you that have these batteries might notice a little sticker on them that says "Made in the USA".. Not true according to my contact.

Hello, I am looking to get batteries.... was thinking of the red or black trojans. Are you saying that the gel batteries are better to get? What would be the size of the inverter to hold 2 gel batteries?

Deep cycle lead acid are the ideal batteries and are the most recommended by inverter manufacturers.
It's been my experience that the Blacks last longer and cost less.

I am impressed at the terminals being so clean.

On a serious note, would the Trojan 'RED' be the "T105"? What are the CCA or other specs on the BLACK in comparison to the RED? The "Black" does not show up on Trojan's website.

The T 105 is just the model number.
Both are 200+ amps.
Like I said, I got a bit more life out of my previous blacks than the reds, maybe 6 months more.
All hooked up together, purchased at the same time, same usage.

Default Thanks

Thanks Marc.

Freddy's Multiservice has Trojan Black for RD$3900 and Easy Power has Trojan Red at RD$5200. Easy power gets theirs from Luis Hernandez and Hernandez is responsible for the warranty. Both places are out of stock although Freddy's will have them by tomorrow if you pay first.

It's all a matter of how many you are buying, as to whether it's worth getting them yourself from STI.
If they are still 3,500 in STI and you're only buying 4, then it's hardly worth the trip.
If you're buying a dozen, then maybe it is worth going to get them.
Then there's the consideration of Freddy doing the installation for you, that could be a factor.
Keep the old ones and contact me for the recycler guy.
I think he pays 300 per battery.
PS: Forget Easy Power.
Way too pricey.

Default Checking on the "Black By Trojan"

Sounds like something you would find in a small packet by the check out counter in the grocery/drug store, doesn't it? Jokes aside, I have had my issues with incorrectly labeled batteries here in the DR. Such as Energy Power batteries saying they are 250 AH when in fact they are only 200 AH. And Energy batteries with a sticker saying made in the US when the are made in El Salvador.

Seeing the questions about the Black by Trojan battery prompted me to check their web site. There is no Black cased T-105 case size lead acid deep cycle battery that I could find in their products. I sent them an email to see what is up with that and will post what I find out.

I also found this interesting battery comparison web site:
