New company offering GPS maps for SD

I noticed this ad on Super Carros.

They are offering GPS maps for Garmin units ONLY.

The cost is 300 pesos a month

No wonder.
I know the Eastern European guy in Santo Domingo who develops it. Does not speak practically no Spanish at all.

I have been using one for a week now, they gave me a unit for review.

It's excellent and has every little street in the capital.
If you drive a lot in Santo Domingo, it's a must have!
It has many points of interests marked and you can add your own.
It offers driving directions in Spanish and English and works very well.

I will post a detailed review in a couple of weeks.

OmegaTech are selling them complete for RD$8,995.

The way I read it, that is the cost to have your business appear on the map. It seems to be 1,400 pesos to buy.

Not true...

Speaking to them, they are offering a complete unit for RD$8,995 or just the maps if you already have a GPS for RD$1,400.

The RD$300 per month is to add and display your business on the GPS.

I have never had a GPS so I am not too sure of the application / programs that can be installed on them.
here is an example:
If I buy a cheap GPS unit in USA for personal use when I am there driving a car, can I buy the santo domingo program and install it on my 100 dollar GPS unit from walmart and use it here?
