Default Update on opening a Peso account

I have read a number of the posts regarding non residents opening bank accounts and have noted that La Nacional in Gascue will open a Peso account with only a passport.

Does anyone have any other updated information as to which other banks will open a Peso account with a passport only. Prefer a bank in Santo Domingo and if possible an English speaking Bank Official.

Was that a branch in Santo Domingo or another city?
Which branch?
Was any English spoken by the bank reps?

apparently they are changing quickly, so people who opened an account a few months ago may not have come across the arse that is now needed to get an account opened.

I think you can open an account quite easily with pesos...the problem would come if you were transferring funds from another bank in your home country - they would need other documentation- its always best to ask what they actually require to avoid wasted trips to and fro
