Default Kiteboarders getting together for a great cause

I am thrilled to see that Laurel Eastman, renowned kiteboarder and Cabarete kite school owner has paired up with fundraisers Kee and Susan Park to organize a charity kiteboarding event for men, women and junior racers in order to support children's charities on the north coast of DR. It encourages local riders to participate as well, since registration is free, but they need to get a sponsor for $50 in order to race. Many local businesses are already onboard as sponsors or prize donors, so don't miss it!
It will be held on Cabarete Beach from February 19th to 21st and it is expected to be a real crowd pleaser. For more information, please visit Kite Boarding Charity Competition - Home Page - Supporting KB4K Charity. Thank you, Laurel and the Parks for helping put smiles on the faces of Dominican children - your efforts are to be greatly commended.

Default Kiteboarding for Kids

The funds raised will go to charities that support underprivileged kids in North Coast of DR. Kids Alive operates a school in Caraballo, Dominican Crossroads has many ministries including a medical clinic, milk ministry, AIDS clinic and may more. We have also received request from Sosua Kids which provides school uniforms and backpacks. We will distribute ALL the money to these charities. None of the funds raised will go to the expense of the event. The event is organized by unpaid volunteers and supported by generous donations from local businesses as well as kiteboarding industry. Any additional expenses are supported by a grant from Kids for Charities, a US charity.
Please visit Kite Boarding Charity Competition - Home Page - Supporting KB4K Charity for a list of all of our sponsors as well as links to the charities.

Please support this worthy cause, we can make a difference!

Default We are excited for the Kick Off at Vela Voy Voy tonight!

We just came from Vela Voy Voy, and its railings are lined with colorful banners. Many sponsors from Cabarete have donated equipment, gift certificates, tours, lessons, massages, etc..for the first ever Kiteboarding for Kids Kiteboarding fundraiser. But don't let the name fool you. The competition is not just for kids. It's for pros, experts, advanced, intermediate of all ages. There is a men, women, and junior's division. The expression session on the last day showcases our very best pro riders from Cabarete! Move over American Idol, our pros will be judged by popular vote! Come on out just to be inspired by our pros! We are stoked for this very special Kiteboarding event that kicks off tonight at Vela Voy Voy at 7pm. At the opening ceremony we will hear from the event planners and introduce our sponsors! Many kiters are signing up daily and money is being raised as you read! Come out tonight and help us kick off at Voy Voy or come on out tomorrow at LEK where registration begins at 10 am until 1pm. The Skippers' Meeting is at 1 pm and the endurance race starts at 2pm for men and women. Don't be shy! Come out and give it your best! All monies raised will be donated to the impoverished children in this area! All 100% of it! Friday's registration is from 10 am to 1pm. The Skipper's meeting is at 1pm. At 2pm is the "Big Air" Best Trick competition. And dinner is at Onno's at 7!
Saturday is the Expression Session at 2pm! Our closing ceremony is at Bambu's at 7! If you're on the fence about coming, pick up that kite, put it in the car, and show up tonight at Vela to register. Registration will begin at Vela Voy Voy at 6:30 but will also be every morning as well. So by the time you're done reading this, I hope you've made up your mind to support an incredible cause, show off some of your kiting skills, and come out and meet some new people! See you there!

All 100% of the money raised in this first ever Kiteboarding for Kids Competition will be donated amongst three local charities. The first one is the Dream Project library. The second charity we are sponsoring is Kids Alive. Kids Alive is an international non-profit organization. They have built a school in village Caraballo. Approximately 500 students both Dominican and Haitian can go to school because Kids Alive have found sponsors for all of them. These children have an amazing opportunity to learn to read, write, learn math as well as all the main subjects. They receive one meal a day, all their immunizations, books, uniforms, and shoes. Without Kids Alive in this area, these kids hang out all day idle. We have visited the school and are so impressed that the kids are learning! They are really learning! Typically to sponsor a child, Kids Alive will find a sponsor for $35/month per child. The money going to Kids Alive will be used to expand the school so more kids can attend and also to sponsor more kids. The third charity will go to Crossroads right in this area. Crossroads is headed by Bob and Jana Alamengmeir. They have been living in this country for over 20 years. Their projects include feeding the poor and building concrete homes to house the poor relocating them from shacks to homes. Each home provides running water and a toilet. Without the homes, the people live in shacks and bath in the river. Illnesses are rampant due to poor hygiene. Many of the children in this village go to the Kids Alive School and are making steps to a bright future that their parents could not have. The money received will go towards feeding homeless, providing shelter, assisting community programs for the adults, teaching opportunities for the poor. All three charities have made huge changes in the lives of the destitute who could not come out of their impoverished beginnings! You will be giving them hope and a future! One does not have to kiteboard to be part of the Kiteboarding for Kids Competition. You can be a fundraiser without even kiting! The top fundraiser will win a 7 night stay at a beachfront luxury villa on Cabarete Bay! That's right. You don't even have to get wet to participate in this cause! Go to Kite Boarding Charity Competition - Home Page - Supporting KB4K Charity and sign up! It's not too late to begin fundraising!
