Default Dog round-up in Cabarete?

Just a sad update: We have just been told by the association, that all street dogs here will be brought away (to the campo) on sunday morning. Someone will come here and take the dogs away. They did this already in the past, so this is not a joke.

If anybody is interested to adopt this nice dog, then please PM me as soon as possible.

Does anybody miss this female dog? (found in Cabarete)

She is such a beautiful and good companion, and looking for a good home.
Only two days are left.

Thanks for your help.

"the association" is what and who makes it up? Why are the dogs suddenly being removed and what it is anticipated to achieve? As soon as you move the resident dogs, who currently have that area as THEIR domain, another group of dogs will move into the subsequent vacated space if it is more desirable than the one they already inhabit and it will start all over again? Morever, you say taken to "the campo" but where are the dogs to be placed when they have been 'removed' from what they know as home and how will they be prevented from returning? It is surely better to leave the street dogs and get them healthy... and recommend them or bring them to participate in the spay/ neuter programme offered by Asociación De Amigos Por Los Animales De Sosúa, Inc.

You are saying that this same dog which you posted about originally in July, despite being offered a home at that time, is still up for adoption?

Moderator note: the change of topic merited a separate discussion.

The original thread and pics of the dog mentioned in the OP can be viewed here:

Yes she is still up for adoption.

We live in an apartment complex where mainly "gringos" live and many neighbours don't like the strayer here and complain. That's why the management who does the administration here decided to call a vet from Sabaneta who will come on sunday and take all strayer with him. Nobody knows what will happen with the dogs then. They said if the vet won't find new owners for the dogs, then he will abandon them somewhere (far away).

This "programme" took place already some months ago where a few puppies were brought away.

From what I now understand, there are just 3 dogs involved here. One is the spayed bitch, Fresa, photographs in original thread and hopefully she will be saved but is in desperate need of a home. Another spayed bitch which is really no trouble to anyone and has been living in the location for 7 years +. The other bitch is very shy and, despite efforts has been unable to be caught to be sterilised. She has already had a litter of puppies (which were removed) and she is the cause of many male dogs coming to seek her out being in season again so she could well be pregnant again!

It is understandable that the residents of the area do not want these male dogs pursuing the shy dog but sad that it necessitates all to be removed.

Why is this sad?? I am kind of tired of of them knockin over the garbage bins and spreading the garbage all over the street.

Your comment is useless.

We are talking here about dogs that are spayed and live in the same area since 7+ years (at least one of it). They are both good guard dogs and do not bother anybody. They do not have parasites and never dig in the garbage. There is just the shy dog who makes the problems and the other 2 dogs must suffer from it.

I feel rather sad for you that you do not enjoy the love and loyalty of animals.
