Can a "Bad" Girl go "Good"!

So after being in Boca Chica for a week (Wow :-)) and canvasing the net, library, local latino (US) news papers and local latinos (Cuban and Dominican), for the following month, I'm flooded with cultural questions so here goes one.

I spent time, like I'm sure many have, in Boca Chica chasing anything cute (and it all was :-)). I had mostly fun (one exception) but by in large a Great experience.

I fall into this category of someone who, once being divorced, is looking at the possibility of remarrying and from many conversations over the past few months am finding the latino culture, regarding relationships, very appealing.

I'm willing to spend the next couple of years, between learning spanish as well as I can and visiting DR frequently in the process, to "Date" and look for someone on the island.

So here's my dilema, I've met up with a few girls that I think are nice but are clearly "sex workers". I'm not particulary concerned about their vocation as I understand the economic pressures of the country. But I wonder what if any of these girls are worth considering to "Date" with the potential for a more serious situation. I realize this is a case by case situation but I'm looking for some general guidelines to help me decide for myself.

Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely plan to spend as much time as I can in the non-tourist areas of DR to get to know the people outside of those influences but I want to understand better the place of "Sex Work" culturally in DR and the ultimate intentions and desire of the women who choose/forced into this line of work.

Oh and to be clear, I'm just a nice guy looking for a nice woman, somehere in there gorgeous should apply (oh and I'm no slouch ), to enjoy my future with. I'm not looking to exploit anyone for anything.

Nice guys don't look for hookers as soul-mates. If you are such a nice guy, what the hell were you doing in the sex places? Looking for the right nun? You are like everyone else so drop the nice guy BS.
Here is where I am going to help you:
Once a hooker, always a hooker. No one is pointing a gun to her head to perform. Its easy money and she is going for it. I know many nice looking girls from extreme poor families who wouldn't dare think about selling their bodies to the tourists, instead they work like slaves in zona francaS FOR 150 DOLLARS / month. These girls maybe poor but they have respect for their bodies and for their families.
If you have heard a poignant story from the girl, how hard it is to make money and to support her fatherless child....how she is forced to sell her body...etc etc. Its all BullS***. She is a hooker and she will never become the nice / decent girl you like her to be. Just have fun with her and leave your feelings aside for someone who is not in boca chica.
If you want good girls, get away from tourist places and explore the real DR.

I just spent 2 days in Boca Chica and I have never seen such a collection of Ugly, Fat and Sorry Hookers in my entire life. They all should have just apologized to me for being so damn Fugly as I was walking down the street. Man go to the North Coast if you want to chase hookers as life goal, at least you will find one that you can fantasize is a "nice gal".

AZB is right "Once a hooker always a hooker" I've seen many a "Gringo" marry a ex hooker (sic) and beleive me, they're no sooner on the plane, that their "wives" are back at the trade. Find yourself a nice girl go through the courting ritual and maybe you will find someone who respects you and will make you a good wife.
