It seems your plants at the condo have taken a turn for the worse. It's such a shame! I'll get rid of the carnage so you don't have to see it first thing when you get here.

It is a motel, which the Brazilian version of cabana. Exactly the same set up. He just wants to know if there are cabanas in DR that are as nice as this motel.

I know this place in Brazil. They film porno movies in the millenium suite. How do I know? I have a copy of one of these movies. And I always thought they were just very nice private apartments...

I dont care how much you all (or they want to call themselves) a MOTEL - if it looks like a Hotel and costs as a Hotel... then it cant be a cabaña!
There are no restaurants in cabañas - they bring the food to you.they had a restaurant, they would call themselves a HOTEL! The whole point of the concept is to remain anonimous - this Brazilian Motel or hotel is not a cabaña, just like the Motels in the US are not either.
Stop comparing its not meant to be the same...

In this cabana in Brazil you stay anonimous. Yes, you can order drinks and food, but this will be delivered by a window, and you don't see them and they don't see you. Well, I'm not experienced with Dominican cabanas, but in Brazil, in a good cabana they always serve food, breakfast etc, and always anonimous. The price for the Millennium suite is around EUR 130 for 8 hours. But then you have an experience you will not soon forget. It is almost alone worth a trip to Rio. Well, if anyone knows a cabana in the Dominican Republic that can be compared to this one, let us know.

Brazilian motels are anonymous. They do bring the food to you. You get them for 4 hour or 8 hour blocks. They have the garages to hide the cars from the spouses. They have the porno channels. And the whole transaction is done without any face to face interaction with the staff. This particular motel caters to the rich but most look just like DR cabañas and very inexpensive.

let's lay it on the line
OK
i find it inteteresting that this type of "hotel" exists and thrives in countries that are almost completely catholic. i think it has to do with a mentality that says you are a sinner only if you get caught. upfront, dogmatic morality versus the backroom reality of sinning and then confessing (giving your power over to the church). no other religion promotes such secretiveness and perversion of the sexual act. the undereducated, third world countries are the only places that have thriving catholic churches.
talk about Jesuit contortions of logic... no wonder the evangelist churches do missionary work in the DR. the population is ripe for conversion and they know that if they are stupid enough to believe the pope they will certainly be good fodder for their own outrageous doctrines.
the anglican church only received legal status in the DR last year! not that they are much better... but what does that tell you?
this is the true yoke around the the DR's neck. forget economic policy, liberate the Dominican mind instead.
mom goes to church everyday, burns candles and prays. her personal power is given to the church. at the same time, her daughter, with her parents' implicit consent prostitutes herself to pay the household bills (either traditional prostitution or marrying for money). dad buries his guilt with steady drinking and occassional confession. and the church likes it that way.
ever wonder why some of the most corrupt, cynical governments exist in Latin America? their people are taught at an early age to defy reality and do what they will...just don't get caught. remember that most of the liberation that has taken place in the United States was by separating, clearly, church from state (of course this is now backsliding badly under George dubya).
i laugh at people's dismay with the corruption and lying. go visit Spain, Italy, France or Portugal (all predominantly catholic). they are true pros at corruption and greed.
this comment belongs in this "sex" forum because controlling the sex of the population is the most expedient way of controlling the people entirely.
Gregg

Hidden cameras?
I am very curious about the whole thing of there being hidden cameras in these cabañas. Is this proven or are these just rumors? And what would be the point of videotaping the guests? Is it for the sick enjoyment of the owners or what?

That is not a cabaña. That is a suite in a luxurious hotel.
