Understanding the language

Hi everybody,

Just to clarify something. Several DR-girls call me 'el patan', apparently this has a 'bad connotation'. However it seems to me they like that too since they kiss me when they say it and want to be with me as well...

They even call me this in public when were are hanging out with the gang (mostly dominicans). The girls are all aware of each other but don't seem to mind and the guys are always laughing.

The girls even introduce me to new people (m/f) saying 'eres mi patan'.

Although I have some indication, could somebody please explain exactly what this means?

I'm considering having a shirt embroidered

i do learn something new here everyday. question? when im out at a bar with my friend, he is a dr resident, and were hanging out and dancing, why is it some of the female dr women laugh? is it because im a "tourist" and they think hes my sanky for the nite? i dont undrstand. im going with the sanky version, and maybe they think im paying for his services.

They probably know something about him you dont.

i.e. AIDS, GAY, Married, a bunch of the kids you see running around the street could be his, or something else.

yea, yu're probably, right, but he did live in newyork for a while, im sure he's well known, but its not over aids or any disease like tht, that i know for sure anyways, im thinking its probably because he is good looking and maybe they think im a sanky flavor for the nite. hahha and i do watch my back always. ill definately be more aware for march. thanks

could be true, however the girls never ask for money or 'stuff' (up till now at least) and the guys hold jobs (not real great ones I admit) and take turns ordering rounds...

Then again I probably should bow to your great (s)experience

Lol! kunky..........it's not just you! that happens to me all the time,when I'm in the DR with my lady(dominicana).It has also happened to us,when we visit relatives of hers in New york.It's weird...........I'm always left wondering"what did we do that was so funny?".

The worst offenders:Young dominican women!I mean,I'm a youngster myself,just turned 26,not balding or over-weight etc...It doesn't bother me much though,when we're in the Dr,I just expect the stares that suggest that people think I'm a horny tourist hanging with a dominican prostitutes or something.Lol! It just goes with the territory.
