I'm confused???

My boyfriend's sister -which lives in D.R- has a 3 year old son but he stay with the grandmother almost 98% of the time. I don't want to ask her even though we are pretty close cause i don't want to come across rude, you know.?.

Well,in the DR(as in most other third world countries),it's common for grandparents to raise(partially or fully)some of their grand children.

As you learn more about the place, you'll probably discover that out-of-wedlock births are high and that there's alot of women raising kids on their own,sometimes as many as 3 or 4.

I'm sure you know about the living standards in the DR.I mean,it's hard enough for single mothers to raise kids on their own in developed countries,but just imagine trying to do so in a third world country- that doesn't have a child support system.So.....who else to call on other than granny?

Anyways,I don't know the circumstances of the woman that you mentioned,I'm just speculating.
