Hotel policies on sankies
As a Dominican living in DR, I have had no contact with the Sanky culture that is part of the hotel life. After all, sankies relate with the tourists that come here, not with us locals. So you guys can inform me. There is a small chance that I will be hosting some visitors in the not-so-near future, and if they stay at a hotel, I would like to warn them properly against the predators of the inns.
Months ago, I read a thread here in which a woman explained how one particular sanky behaved quite aggressively around her. He kept bragging about all aspects of his manlihood and went as far as forcing himself on her. In public. In the resort's premises. Without the woman's consent, by her own account of the matter. I found that to be more alarming than the average.
While I know that some hotels look away from the entire sanky activity, be it performed by hotel employees or outsiders, I also understand that the higher end resorts frown upon having their customers harrassed during their stays. These higher quality resorts can't (and shouldn't) meddle with their clients' wishes as long as it's restricted to their private wanderings, but at least they make sure that the ambiance in their premises isn't one of blatant promiscuity.
So, question: Do the visitors, expats, tourists feel that the hotels play a part in the sanky economy? I don't mean if they take a cut of the money. I mean if the actions or omissions of the hotel management distinctively affect the sanky action.

I haven't seen a sankie with a tourist in the hotel I use in Boca Chica, ever.
As for the all inclusives they don't let in any "guests" (without a $60 or so fee per day) not for moral reasons, or guest safety but because they give away food and liquor and they don't want moochers.
Your question is still pretty vague, actually.

Give me a break! Isn't that a little strong of a word to use? What are they Great Whites?
If your guests are not children and they can't tell when someone is using a line on them then they need to get out more.
Where did you read about a sankie FORCING himself on someone? Forcing is another strong word. Please find me that thread,
Thanks

Oh BTW the EMPLOYEES of the hotel can't sleep in the guest's room. That is most of the Hotels policy. Anyone married to a Hotel employee will tell you that they stay at another hotel when vactioning to see their husbands.

I should have placed "predators of the inns" between quote marks, since I was joking in reference to comments and discussions that ocasionally pop in this board. Sorry.
I had a faint memory of the opening post found here, and I quote (emphasis mine):
Quote:

One of them always bragged about being able to have any woman he wanted! BIG EGO! He name is Carlos and trust me, from what I’ve heard from other women, he’s more talk than action! Hehehehe The other guy is Marcos and we became good friends too. He was constantly pulling Carlos off of me because I wasn’t strong enough. Carlos finally stopped harassing me when I bit his tongue.

While this may sound like being playful and racy to some, it's definitely too much for the crowd of friends I had in mind when I made my post. Of course, your opinions may vary.

WAY off base
In the legit AI such as the Coral chain of 4 hotels a sankie or a ho could not make it 5 feet pass the enclosed lobby without a 24 hour security guy stopping them. As for them taking a cut--I really doubt it when you have national chains such as Hilton involved.
Regarding your friends-Yes "this isn't Kansas Alice" but it isn't any different from other resort enviroment of other tropic places

I don't think that you are doing local tourism any favours with that post, AnEvil. Especially with so many people getting ready to book their trips. For the record, I've never seen anyone being attacked at a resort. Some of the workers do flirt, but its harmless fun and mostly reciprocated from what I have witnessed. Part of their job is to make sure you have a good time, so that you will come back. I have never witness any violence or harrassment of hotel guests by hotel employees, and I think it is just plain silly to suggest that this might be a common problem at the resorts. Even more ridiculous is to suggest that people who work in resorts only associate with tourists.

You get whatever you are looking for. No means NO in spanish too. So if you're not interested it ain't going to happen.
Think you are making a big deal over nada especially if you are Dominican and so are your friends. There shouldn't be a problem for them to tell anyone inside or outside of resorts to go take a flying leap. I think someone is just trying to start one of THOSE threads.
Evil I found a thread in which you seem to know an awful lot so why such a silly question?
Here's that theard

Evil, there was a thread recently by someone complaining because a popular sanki was fired by the hotel where he worked after a girl who got a big play one night saw the sanki chasing another girl the next day complained to the manager.
I think that is how the hotels operate with respect to their employees who double as sankis. If they do something obvious, like going up to a girl's room, or if a guest complains about their behavior, the employee is fired.
They don't monitor the behavior of guests and employees 24/7, but they do act quickly if something reflects negatively on the hotel.

True but it doesn't them from trying things on in a more subtle way. Which slightly angers us partners.
