it really does amaze me

Wow!!! I have been reading the post on this sight for about a week now and find it very interesting. I guess what I was thinking all this time is that American Men are quite similiar to Dominican men. Most men, not all, are mostly the same. I really do not think it has anything to do with ethnicity. Men are just that way, I know plenty of American Men and Women who are "playas". However, I do feel that maybe the overall attitude of this site does promote a negative image of Domincan people in general. It probably is unintentional but as I read it, it makes me not want to visit. I think that the advice is good, but the delivery could be better. I just want to say that American men cheat, lie, and get other women pregnant etc. I guarantee any other country would have similiar stories about their men. I do have another question for you, are there any African-Americans living in the Dominican Republic. I only hear you talk about relationships with Gringos (I assume that means white) are there ever any blacks from the United States having relationships with Dominican Men? Excuse my grammer, please.

the subject was more of the resort workers who are called Sankies, it was not about Dominican men in general. you can search the archives under "sankie" and you mat get a better understanding of what these men do. You can also read the experiences some of these women have had with them.

Okay, I get that you were mainly speaking of Sankies or Sanky, by the way where did that name come from? But careful, because the world is full of generalizations, especially against minorities. When I talk about the DR to people, they think all of you are living in one-room shacks married to your cousins. My piont was that although some "Sankies" are trash or looking for a way to the U.S.(why I do not know, the U.S sucks too) there are some decent ones in the group. As typical with most minorities we defame one another and look down on our own, well I just feel that there is enough negativity coming from others that you should not help to foster such an attitude. Anyway, enough preaching, I will not talk about my relationship with an educated Dominican man because the overall attitude of this site is negative. I initally tuned in to get some possible insight but although you guys are funny, you really leave us "newbies" with no hope. Just an FYI. You guys are really funny especially the smart-aleck Hilbilly(I thought that was a purely American phrase). Anyway... I did ask a question and that was were there any African-American women/DR men relationships that you see. Is this unheard of? Also my friend visited your country and got a virus from eating your food, so she says. Where in Punta Cana should I not eat? Thnks, looking for some helpful advice

When I talk about sankies, in my opinion, they are those guys/gals that would do anything to be with you for the simple fact that you are, in their eyes, a way out of a bad situation or a meal ticket. Those that would be with you and make you believe that you are the most important person that have ever lived, just for a chance to get you to bed and promise you the world and then take advantage of you. Those that would tell you what you want to hear just to make you feel good and then hit you where it hurts. They play with your emotions and then would throw your feeling all over the place. Those that have no souls. I am not talking about the sankie lovers here, I am talking about the real sankies, the ones that gather in clubs and beaches looking for the next victim (you know, the ones with the ugliest shirts). Some people know that they are sankies and sometimes they fool people, then take them for all they have. Ladies and gentlemen, the moment your new dominican girlfriend or boyfriend tell you something like: " I have no money for the rent ", "my mother is sick and we don't have money for the doctor's bill", "my son or relative was in an accident and I am going crazy because I don't have the money for the medicine ", " I would love to call you more but I don't have money for a phone", " the rent is so high that I will have to go live with my 10 brothers and sister in a 1 bedroom apartment", etc. ect, right then and there is the " red flag ", run like you have seen the devil himself. I can love someone to death but the moment that person starts asking me or hinting for money, I am outta there.
Of course there are many African-American/DR men relationships. Many. Coming back from the DR on Feb 22nd, there was a group on about 10 African-American men that I started a conversation with and they told me that they were on vacation in the DR visiting their girlfriends, well, one had a boyfriend. I did not ask much, but one of them was married to this dominican lady (she went with him but stayed a little longer), for 22 years.
Not all in this site think that all dominicans are sankies. I am one of those that thinks that there are many, many dominicans that would fall in love with a foreigner and be truly in love. There are many well-educated dominicans, many. So I truly believe that not all here think that all dominicans are sankies.
Your friend came to Punta Cana and got sick, it happen. I have been to Mexico numerous times and to the DR, also many times, I am have never gotten sick with their foods. On the other hand, I was in Tampa, Fl, last year and I got sick with some food that I ate at a very fancy restaurant, and I do have a strong stomach. It can happen in any place. Just be careful with the water in DR. If you know that you have a good man, who cares what anybody thinks, right?.

Well said Miguel!!! Just needed clarification. I just wanted to give you insight into how someone on the outside looking in might take what is said on this site. I respectfully thank you for your lack of sarcasm and honest answers. Now I know african-american men date dominican women/men, but do educated dominican men date african american women. I'm trying to get an idea of the ratio here. I guess I believe that most men of other races marry within, while the women are quicker to or are more open to marriages outside of their ethnicity. Yeah, I agree about the food, that is similiar to what I told my friend, she has a bit of an American superiority complex. And yeah your right about my relationship, he has never asked me for money, because I do not have any to give. If his mom was sick he never let me know, if he was low on rent money, so was I, so he never asked me for the funds. But anyway, I do appreciate the messages on this site, it makes me keep my eye's open, even if the words are harsh. I have nothing to give, so nothing can be taken!!!!
