Trouble in Paradise Pt. 2...

In todays' New York Daily News, there is an article on a 20-year old who was arrested as he was coming off a plane after he landed in Santo Domingo.

Apparently he killed his girlfriend in a jealous rage.
He shoots her in the temple and as he leaves the apartment, walks by her mother and tells her-"Call 911-I just killed your daughter".

There was a history of verbal abuse and he had broken her sisters' nose when she was trying to break up a fight between them in a recent scuffle.

He was jealous because she recieved alot of attention from other guys whenever they went out. She also broke up with him on a previous occasion and not only took him back despite pleas from her family but had him move in with her.

I hate to be the one to bring the bad news, but it illustrates what seems to be a problem with some women on this forum. Going out with a jealous dominican WILL bring you grief.

If a young, good-looking educated woman goes to the DR to look for love and meets a sankie(and a jealous, possessive one at that)then it just means that she is a young, good-looking, educated woman with issues. I am not trying to insult anyone here but it is this lack of forsight when dealing with these guys that gives me cause for concern.

And I do not buy that "latin lover" stuff, either. If you need a certain type of love and affection in your life, you are not going to find it in the DR. Trust me, I have been there a few times and I KNOW. All you are going to find is a mirage. It may LOOK like something substantial and real, but it most certainly is NOT.

Please do not make yourself a victim-please do not walk into it if you gals are so smart. If you have to ask, you should already know that you are in a bad situation.

And yes, I am not so indifferent and cruel as to not know what it is like to meet someone who leaves you slobbering like a child-a person that leaves you professing your undying love to them after merely one night out. And guess what? I went home, the cobwebs cleared and I thought to myself, "What the hell was I thinking? What the hell was I doing?"

I'm not trying to rag on anyone here, but the world is full of these special-ed bastards. Just because these sankies are cute, have nice bodies, give good "Muela" and knows what you want to hear does'nt mean they are'nt irrational and vicious underneath it all. Please avoid them at all costs.

These girls are not so smart as they pretend to be. Look at toronto blond's picture, she looks like a stripper from strip-bars. The way she is dressed she could be easily confused for a hooker from "passion club" in santiago. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying she is a hooker or a stripper, but why dress up like one if you aren't one? beats me.
The problem is, these girls are vivtim of trashy culture in north america. The hip hop culture is distroying the american / canadian social values. Now its ok to have guys feel like men with ear rings in both ears. Girls with tattooes and wear obsene hooker outfits. Its all cool.
Now the same trashy women are coming here and mixing in with dominican trash. They feel right at home in doing so. You can't change their taste because its part of their personality and class. They are part of this trashy culture.
Now why can't these canadian beauties find handsome dominican educated decent men who would treat them with respect and with class? My dominican friend just took his sweet girlfriend on a 2 week cruise all over carribean, paid for her plane fare to maimi and all the cruise expenses. Oh wait, he is rich so he must be a snob and a bastard (by default). So you dominican republic experts come to DR, stay in resort areas, meet some scum name ricky, tito and jose from animation team (oh wait, may be in disco who is not a so called "sankie" hahaha) and pretent you have figured this island out to its roots. The truth is, these so called "intelligent girls" from north america are simply looking for trouble. They fall into a mess because they are young, stupid and desperate for love. They are considered trashy by dominican standards becuase they mix with trash.

This is really terrible! I never would have thought that jealousy could take these men so far. What a horrible tragedy, my heart goes out to the victims family and friends. They are in my thoughts and prayers! Its awful how well you think you know someone how they can turn on you when your least expecting it!
Hopefully this tradegy as well as the one in PUnta Cana can be a lesson for all: be careful who you trust!

I was going to post about this story as well, but I wanted to make sure no one is confused about this being the same story I posted about. these girls are both from NY.people were calling me today to tell me the story of our friend was the news, so I went to pick up all the local newspapers, only to learn it was a different story of another girls loss...

I woke up this morning, took the metro, as I do every day, picked up the newspaper, read it. I found out that in one of Montreal’s upscale area, Nun’s Island, 5 minute drive from where I live, a woman’s body was found cut in two pieces right next to an appartement complex. The victim hasn’t been identified but they can say it’s a woman..

Yesterday, same thing, a guy who had pretend he found his wife hung in the basement was found guilty of murder because he actually killed her himself. Just proves that there are bad men anywhere.

I read this message board and I hear about Toronto Blonde’s story, I read about that girl in NY, and the story in Punta Cana (I don’t know if that’s the same story than the woman’s body that was found in Villa Mella, for I don’t know where Villa Mella is, but I thought that was in Sto.Domingo), so that would make 3 scary stories in a few days...

All sad stories, diffent places, times and different people and mentalities. What can push one to do something like that?

I never believed I could personnaly find love in vacation, but that is a personnal choice, knowing too well that if previous relationship were crap here, they would be the same multiplied by 10 there. But I never condemn people who found it, who am I to judge them, if it works for them good. I still think nothing is impossible but finding love in a 2 week trip, that is like a fairy tale, most likely uncommon.

Any woman should know that anywhere in the world you will go, there are bad men, but if you go to a foreign country by yourself, you should know a minimum about the culture and the ways of men. We find our men to be macho sometimes but in most cultures other than North American one, macho is not only a word coming from upset women’s mouth, it’s a way of living, of thinking. Why do men in the South are supposedly so « caliente »? Because they have a lot of testosterone, and that’s a strong male hormone that makes a man a man…

If one of those man tells you he will give his life for you, you better go away because he might mean he will take yours if you don’t give him the same in return.

I thought this was a good post. I don't agree that it has to do with the hip-hop culture because i am a part of that and would never go out of my house wearing a shirt like that of Toronto Blonde. Also i found it interesting that a friend of mine has basically the same shirt and I don't go out with her to bars dressed like that because i don't approve of it, but that she her in canada has run into similar problems that Toronto Blonde is running into DR. Its not an issue of dominicans acting poorly this happens everywhere. If you portray yourself as "easy" which is what most people first think when they see someone wearing next to nothing, wether it be true or not you get treated like that. I don't condone what the guys do, but your only making yourself more of a traget by wearing thoes clothes and putting yourself in that posistion.

Well, one of the "defender" is not attacking because you kissed her axx saying that she looks like a model and the others are not because this is a very serious matter and it "hits" very close to home.

It's hitting real close because we need to make sure than when we visit a foreign country, any country, we need to make sure that we "cover" all the bases. We ALL can be victims.. All we need to do is "study" our surroundings and make sure that the company we keep are at the same level as us. If all we want to do is have a good time, bed whomever crosses our paths, then we have to accept the consecuenses that come with doing as such.

Again, as the old saying goes: "tell me with whom you hang and.....".

Listen, I always wonder how much influence does some of the topics in popular culture music is having on the crime levels and indecency that seems rampant everywhere globalization has taken root.

Remember a few years ago, this country was so great. It's still great today, but all that materialism coming from the north is really spoiling many aspects of this paradise in more ways than one.

I think many of these foreigners dislike the rich or upper middle class for being rich and upper middle class in a country where many are of the poor and lower middle class.

I don't see why that is the case, afterall in their countries being poor is considered a disgrace. Being poor overthere is equated with being lazy and many of those girls (I think) don't mess with the poor of their country. What makes them think the poor of the DR are different?

Sure, you still can find nice poor people in remote areas of this country. The vast majority of the poor near the tourist areas have been damaged by the very same tourist.

Kids that years ago used to play with their friends are now begging. How did it started? Some tourist felt bad and started giving stuff to the kids turning them into beggars.

Decent girls who had some dignity now are virtual prostitutes. Why? Some tourist came and corrupted them into the system with their dolares.

The same story repeats itself in most tourist regions of this country.

And tourist wonder why educated decent Dominicans look down upon the many of the expat communities and the tourist!

The baseball industry has also done wonders with young boys by the hundreds throwing their lives away with the hope of being a major league baseball player. Most who enter those training camps come out empty handed and become nothing. Their ambition was for baseball and once they didn't get it, most will not try to reach other goals.

Some will be smart and move up the latter by being persistent in trying to make it big in something, but most will just quit at such an early age.
