Well I have met many Dominicans on vacation and they have made it a point to keep in contact with me after i have left their country!
i still talk to people I met while I was there in January 2003. Who still continuously call me write me emails text messages and make sure they are online when i am on msn. There are people i met while on vacation since i was little i still kepp in contact with today and would still consider friends!
Not all forget about you once you board the plane. Some still care! but then again it is a very selected few. And I guess I am glad to have found a few great friends in all the countries i have visited!

They also don't call you is because you all talk about the same boring stuff: how much you would love to drink a presidente by the beach or a mamaguana shot, or brugal cuba libre. how is Quico and Mr. hot chocolate doing? When is juanita getting married to fred from canada? How much you love to dance merengue and how you are listening to anthony santos at the moment. How you would love to go to barrica in puerto plata with the animation team. Can we spend a week in montellano when I come in december?
All the same crap, the crap that doesn't even interest anyone except the tourists. These sankies are tired of talking about the same stuff with all of you so called "friends". They don't want to hear a word about presidente beer or brugal or montellano. They hate the beach and hate to dance merengue with tourists who don't know how to move their a$$ to the beat.
Its the same with me when my visiting friends call me. The first thing they tell me is how they picked up a cuero and took her to motel. Then how when he was talking her back home, he picked up another cuero on the street and screwed her too. Then somone tells me that he picked up 2 friends and had sex with them at the same time. They all want to invite me to drink a cold presidente. They all want to go to the beach with me or women hunting. They don't seem to realize, this is no novelty for us. In fact we don't even care to do all that. But to them,. this is a whole new world.
So please, if you call your friends, talk about stuff they like to talk about.

When I call my friends in the DR the conversations vary greatly. If I am talking to my male friends we talk about the stock market, sports, business opportunities, weather, family, and computers.
When I call my female friends in the DR we talk about, how many clothes they have on, where I would like them to put their hands, how she is the best I ever had, how I can’t wait to get back, and how faithful she has been to me.
I would like to talk to these women about the stock market, sports, business opportunities, weather and computers, but they are clueless.

I get some of the best "Stock Market" tips from my Dominican Trading buddies!
Last month I left my eSignal trading platform open on the table, and my Novia started clicking, not knowing it was a live screen, the next thing I noticed was she made me a grand in Crude oil.

They are in it for a purpose...but if you wish to view the world through rose-coloured glasses, go ahead, hopefully you wont learn the hard way. Then again, people who arent smart enough to figure out the "resort culture" early on in the game deserve to get screwed over....WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! AZB, I am agreeing with you more and more!!!

I will be visiting Amelia resort soon in punta cana. I will be received by a very good dominican friend whom I know since 1986. he is one of the managers there. i know i will have a VIP tagged band on the wrist and everyone around me will be super nice to me. I will be nice to them as well but do you folks think I will be keeping contact with them when I am gone? Not at all. I won't even exchange numbers. Why? becasue I will be there for vacation, they work there and get paid to serve me. they really don't need my friendship and careless if I ever call them.
So there you have it, I will go there, spend a nice weekend and then return to my life. How hard is it to do that? not difficult at all.
Life goes on.

Ya, this is the point I was trying to make, just cause they call doesn't mean they actually care.

Whether they call, email or send smoke signals....THEY DONT CARE!! They are all for themselves.
I seriously think some people go on vacation for the wrong reasons! Now there is nothing wrong with chatting with people on vacation, "learning" about other cultures or whatever turns your crank...but whats up with the exchanging of emails/phone #'s with people who dont give a rats ass????? Like I always say, each to their own.
