Actually a lot of women do except men for who they are, there would be no long term relationships otherwise... the problem sometimes is that men don't accept women the same way. i'm not denying there are women out there who are like that...i'd like to think i'm one of them....but the majority seems to be constantly trying to figure men out, which in many of my friend's cases, only makes matters worse.

It's nature, we women become attached to one man and we focus on that man and want to keep that man. Men, they want to spread their seeds. Of course their are men and women who mature beyond that and are able to give each other space and not be so possesive and controlling over the other and live happily.

Its wonderful that we are so different but then again this causes a lot of conflicts and I guess it makes for interesting relationships. We are just different that's all. I'm one who has a hard time understanding why would a man would cheat if he has a beautiful, caring, understanding, etc etc...... partner at home.???? don't tell me I know I know...its nature...I said it myself, so don't remind me....

I guess, this sort of money saving is good for americans and beneficial to DR ... I wonder, what does it cost in the US and DR? What are the differences?

In the US, you need a late-model car with a stereo system(preferably pimped out), a nice apartment with no relatives living with you and disposable cash.
The girls usually don't ask for cash straight-up but expects the guy to pay for EVERYTHING, eventually including her credit card bills.
You also need to be able to take them in your car wherever they want whenever they need. The feelings of helplessness and dependancy are a little bit more subtle and develop over time but as you can see it costs WAY more. And just like in the DR, the guys' looks do not matter one bit.
For the most part you will not be pestered with agonizing tales of third-world woe and how mommy needs an operation and a new refrigerator and family members will not bother you for cash, but you will not have much left anyway so it does'nt matter. And when she finds someone with more money you're out the door.

In the DR, unless you got a chica beeper from Santiago with model looks all it takes is a couple of hundred bucks a month in Western Union remittances and the ability to show your face in the DR every 2 months or so, even if its' only for a long weekend and have her stay with you in the hotel. This is where it is understood she will give you what you are paying for while you are home sending that cash.
And you will need to keep an eye out for the next chica to replace the one you are currently with. Why?
Because as the demands become more and more excessive you will cut the girl off and start the whole process over again, so you need to keep your options open. Hope this helps!!

It does. It is all so strange ... I am not used to this sort of life style. I can see people having relationships and wanting to have sex with each other, but "offer" sex for money or other things (kind of like prostitution) is disgusting.

lets see: the cars cost almost twice as mich here as in USA ex: a yr 2000 honda accord costs around 13k dollars here. The gasoline is about 4.60 US for cheap regular unleaded. The SUVs costs 2 times as much here and people usually pay cash for them. I think in santiago alone we have more SUVs than in many modern cities in canada, USA. SD is like a whole other country all by itself. Now with hundreds and thousands of late model cars all over santiago and SD are driven by foreigners? Hashahahaha. who do you thunk drive them, the french? Who goes to these fancy restaurants all over SD and in santiago? who fill up the fancy cabanas on the main roads? who are the managers of banks? who own all the bancas? who own the zona franca companies? Who live in the nice houses all over this island? yes, all dominicans. You think these folks don't have daughters and sisters? Who do shopping in plazas and malls and buy groceries in american style supermarkets? All dominicans. So you think a domincian woman who owns a late model car, graduated from PUCMM university and lives in a nice house with cable, wireless internet, a/c etc etc will ask you for your chump change money?
these people are all around you but where do these guys look for love? they go to carwash, barrios, sosua , boca chica bars and hooker discos. then they meet trash and then complain. Please give me a break.
